Ivanka Trump Opens up About “Emotional” Postpartum Depression Battle After Three Kids

She may be the First Daughter, but Ivanka Trump faces motherhood challenges, too. In a new interview on The Dr. Oz Show, the 35-year-old shared that she had “some level” of postpartum depression with all three of her kids.

“It was a very challenging, emotional time for me because I felt like I was not living up to my potential as a parent or as an entrepreneur and as an executive. And I had had such easy pregnancies that in some way the juxtaposition hit me even harder,” she shared with Dr. Oz. Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner — who married in October 2011 — are parents to daughter Arabella, 6, and sons Joseph, 3, and Theodore, 18 months.

When Dr. Oz asked the businesswoman why she waiting until now to speak out about the battle, she laughed that she didn’t know she was! “It’s incredibly important and look I consider myself a very hard-charging person, I am ambitious, I’m passionate, I’m driven, but this is something that affects parents all over the country,” Ivanka continued.

Now, Ivanka — who is arguably one of the busiest women in the world — is doing everything in her power to be the best mother to her little ones. In a previous interview with People, she shared the sweet thing she does for Arabella, Joseph, and Theo every day. “I want my children to see me first every morning, so I wake up at 5 and make sure to shower and exercise before they get up,” Ivanka said. So cute!

“I try to carve out special time with each of them,” she adds of spending time with her kids. “Joseph loves playing with cars. Arabella could read with me for hours. I never loved baking until Arabella started cooking with me.” Ivanka adds, “Poor Theo, he’s always the one where they’re interrupting his time with me.” In our opinion, you’re a supermom, Ivanka!
