We miss you, DiNozzo! Season 15 of NCIS is set to premiere this fall on CBS — and while we know Joe Spano (FBI Special Agent Tobias C. Fornell) and Robert Wagner, Jr. (Anthony DiNozzo Sr.) are set to appear in the next installment of the crime drama, fans can’t help but wonder if Michael Weatherly might reprise his beloved role of NCIS Senior Special Agent Tony DiNozzo.

As previously reported, Micheal, 49, crushed fans’ hearts in January 2016 when CBS announced that he was leaving the hit show after 13 seasons. “After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season,” the network said in a statement. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today — the No. 1 drama in the world.”

Not long after CBS broke the sad news, Michael took to Twitter to officially sign off. “DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character and I couldn’t have had more fun playing him over the past 13 seasons,” he wrote at the time. “I will miss the amazing crew and cast, who are like family to me, and to the fans all over the world — THANK YOU, it’s been a fantastic ride!”

Michael, who exited NCIS to pursue a new role on CBS’ new series Bull, spoke to Digital Spy earlier this year about the possibility of coming back to the show after his one-season hiatus. According to the handsome actor, he’d never say never. “I absolutely see worlds where DiNozzo and other characters could pop up [again],” he told the outlet at the time. “It is something I’m very keen to explore when the timing is right.”
