Ever since the final episode of Friends aired in 2004, fans have been dying for a reunion. Unfortunately, while the girls would “love to do it again,” according to Jennifer Aniston, “the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason.” Now, Radar Online claims it’s all Matthew Perry‘s fault.
The actor, who is best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit 90s TV sitcom, has struggled with health issues recently. In September, he took to social media to share an update with his followers.
“Thank you so much for this tweet, it’s so good to hear from you! Hope you’re feeling better each and every day. Stay strong, you got this! We miss you and love you very much,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Oh man, a GI perf [sic] is horrible. Please rest up [and] be well. We love you man — you have that special way of bringing the laughs [and] the world needs you!”
Matthew had been suffering from a perforation in his gastrointestinal tract, or GP, which is when a hole forms through the stomach, large bowel, or small intestine, according to Healthline.
Back in August, Matthew underwent surgery to treat his condition, and the actor’s rep released a statement to Us Weekly regarding his health. “Matthew Perry recently underwent surgery in a LA hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation,” the rep said at the time. “He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.”
But that wasn’t the first time Matthew had been open about his health issues. Back in 2000, he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which he confirmed to Us was partly caused by his alcohol abuse.
“It got to the point where Matthew was using drugs every day,” the actor’s longtime friend, Kayti Edwards, told In Touch in August. “It was about three months of heavy partying. He was definitely on a roll for about three months.”
Here’s to hoping Matthew is on the mend. After all, we’re sure his friends would be thereeee forrrr himmmm!
