Inside Alex Trebek and Wife Jean’s Amazing Love Story: ‘They Have a Solid Connection’
True soulmates! Alex Trebek and his wife, Jean Trebek, have been married since 1990 and their relationship is still stronger than ever!
“Alex, 79, and Jean, 55, have one of Hollywood’s best love stories,” an insider exclusively tells Closer Weekly. “The fact that they don’t flash it in everyone’s faces, like a lot of couples in this town do, is [a true] testament [of] their confidence.”
When the Jeopardy! host announced he was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in March 2019, his wife was right by his side. “Alex says he never would have been able to get through his cancer battle without Jean. There were some very dark days when he just wanted to give up, but she has a way of lifting his spirits,” the source notes. “She makes him smile when he least expects it. He says he’s only beaten the odds this long because of his wife’s daily support.”
The TV personality doesn’t want to think about where he would be if he never met the brunette beauty. “Jean is the rock that anchors Alex and he’s grateful every second that she’s in this fight with him. They have a solid connection,” the source says. “It’s a true love story.”
In October 2019, Jean revealed she’s been using sound healing to help Alex through cancer. “It comes from a place of love, because I want to uplift him … and when I keep my own self buoyed and enjoying my life, I can actually share that with him,” she told Survivornet.com. “He can look at me and have a sense of ‘life is beautiful; my wife is doing something good.’”
The game show host appreciates everything his spouse does for him. In May 2019, Alex told People he has a “wonderful” partner because of how great Jean has been taking care of him. “My heart goes out to caregivers,” he said. “Because they have to deal with their loved ones suffering and they also don’t always know how to help because there’s not much they can do, except try to make you feel more comfortable, at ease and not worry about ordinary stuff.”
