Last September, legendary diva Cher was forced to cancel the remaining dates on her Dressed to Kill concert tour after a month long battle with a potentially fatal virus. Now after a long journey to recovery, Cher exclusively tells Closer Weekly she’s feeling better than ever!

“I’m feeling great,” Cher confides exclusively in the new issue of Closer, adding, “I’m not dying!”

Cher looked healthy and happy at the Met Gala on May 4.

The self-described workaholic “was brokenhearted” an insider explains, “mostly because she was letting her fans down. She was really flattened by the infection — it affected her kidney function and threatened her heart.”

Closer Weekly was the first to report that Cher was spotted wearing a monitor in late October to track her cardiac function. Cher’s rep also confirmed the singer was wearing a monitor, at the time telling Closer that it was “a normal part of her recovery.”

“For the first time in her life, she learned how to slow down and methodically build up strength,” the source explains.

And now, with her recovery complete, the performer is gearing up to resume her tour. “She’s happier and healthier than she has been in years, and she’s dead-set on remounting Dressed to Kill,” the insider explains, noting that calls with her management team to iron out the logistics are a daily occurrence.
