The highly-anticipated Roseanne reboot is finally here! When the updated series premiered on ABC on Tuesday, March 27 two decades after the original show’s run, many fans were surprised to see almost all of the former cast members returned for the revival. Not only did Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Sarah Chalke, Michael Fishman, and Johnny Galecki come back, but the 2018 cast also features a few new characters. So, just how many of those new and old characters are Roseanne’s kids? Scroll down to meet the Conner family!

Becky Conner-Healy

Becky is Roseanne and Dan Conner’s eldest child. She was originally played by Lecy Goranson in Seasons 1 through 5. In 1992, Lecy decided to leave Roseanne to pursue a college education at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. At the time, the young actress’ school schedule permitted her to still occasionally appear on the series. During Season 5, Lecy’s character, Becky, surprisingly eloped with her boyfriend, Mark Healy (played by the late Glenn Quinn), and subsequently left her Illinois hometown. Since Becky then lived out-of-state, Lecy was often shown speaking to her parents on the phone and continued guest-starring on the show for several episodes.

By Season 6, the Roseanne producers wanted Becky to appear more frequently on the show, so they recast the role — and Sarah Chalke won the coveted part. Sarah then portrayed Becky on Seasons 6 and 7. Lecy later briefly returned to Roseanne for Season 8, but again left the series and Sarah played Becky in the show’s ninth and final season. So, which Becky returned for the reboot? Both! Lecy is portraying a grown-up Becky on the series and Sarah is playing a middle-class woman named Andrea who hires Becky to be her surrogate.

Darlene Conner-Healy

Darlene was originally played by Sara Gilbert and the actress came back for the revival series, too. Darlene is Roseanne and Dan’s middle child and second eldest daughter. At the end of the original show, Darlene married her high school sweetheart, David Healy, who was portrayed by Johnny Galecki. Johnny also returned for one episode of the reboot to play Darlene’s now ex-husband. Though the couple is separated today, they are parents to two kids — daughter Harris Conner-Healy (played by Emma Kenney) and son Mark Conner-Healy (portrayed by Ames McNamara) — together. In the first episode of the new Roseanne, Darlene moved back in with her parents after losing her job.

DJ Conner

Actor Michael Fishman was just a little boy when he first portrayed Roseanne and Dan’s third child and eldest son, DJ. Now, Michael is back to play a grown-up DJ who returned home from Syria in the reboot’s premiere episode after serving in the US Army for years. Though DJ’s wife, Geena Williams, has not yet been introduced in the new series, the Conner family did mention Geena and pray for her safe return from serving the US abroad. DJ and his wife are now parents to a young daughter named Mary Conner, who is being played by actress Jayden Rey.

Jerry Conner

Baby Jerry Garcia Conner joined the fictional Conner family during Roseanne‘s eighth season in 1995 as Roseanne and Dan’s youngest child. Baby Jerry was played by two twin actors, Cole and Morgan Roberts, for two seasons until Roseanne‘s original run came to an end in 1997. It’s thought that Baby Jerry was writen into the show’s storyline because star Roseanne Barr was pregnant with her real-life youngest son, Buck Thomas. Though it was revealed at the end of Season 7 that Roseanne Conner was expecting a baby girl, Roseanne Barr wanted her character’s life to emulate her own so the baby was changed to a boy in Season 8. As far as we know, Jerry is not a part of the series’ reboot, but he was mentioned in the premiere. While praying before dinner, Roseanne said, “Please watch over our son Jerry, who’s on that stupid fishing boat where, apparently, they don’t get phone calls.”
