The Blue Bloods cast gathered at the Reagan family dinner table for the final time on our TV screens in the show’s series finale on December 13, 2024. All of the characters were involved in a dramatic story line, which led to a character’s death.

What Happened in the ‘Blue Bloods’ Series Finale?

The episode opened up with the death of Judge Barbara Clarkson, who was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound. Maria Baez and Danny Reagan visited the crime scene and spoke with her husband. They learned of a gang who made threats to her in the past. That wasn’t the only death in the episode.

Eddie Janko-Reagan and Luis Badillo were seen driving in the car talking about a date that he went on. They were called to a possible car jacking. But when they arrived, they found nobody in the car. A man on a motorcycle showed up and began firing shots, clearly revealing that it was a set up. The motorcycle rider started shooting, striking Badillo in the chest. He fell to the ground and blood began pouring out of his mouth. Eddie held onto him as she called for help.

A man later fired shots at Mayor Peter Chase as he was unveiling a historical landmark. He fell to the ground. Frank Reagan visited Peter in the hospital for a rundown of what went on. Peter told Frank he was in charge in the interim and needed to get the city out of the mess that was happening.

Eddie was taken to the hospital after the shooting. She talked to Jamie Reagan about what happened. He informed her that Badillo died. Eddie had an outburst when she learned the shooter was still at large. Jamie sat in the waiting room and Joe Hill also showed up. Joe shared some information he found out about the shooter. He and Jamie searched for leads, while Baez, Danny and a recovered Eddie looked for the gang leader calling the shots.

Frank met with the gang leader’s father, Lorenzo, in prison about giving up his son’s whereabouts. Frank had one of his most baller lines of the season when Lorenzo called for the guards to come get him because he refused to rat out his son. No guards came. “Today, they only come when I call them,” Frank said.

There Was Some Lighter News

And amid all of the crimes and drama going on, Erin and Jack had a conversation about possibly getting married again despite her family’s disapproval.

Danny had a chat with Henry back at home. Henry said that he had faith in Danny to catch the killers and move on from the case. He promised him that when the case was over, he would find someone to come home to. Henry urged his grandson to “think like a father.”

In the end, it was Danny who ended up finding gang leader Ramirez and his daughter. “You know, my dad used to tell me that kids learn from their father’s example, not from their words. This could go bad,” Danny said. Ramirez threatened to kill himself, but Danny talked him out of it. Danny arrested him. Danny later asked Baez out for pizza, clearly showing that he took Henry’s advice.

Jamie and Joe were able to nail down Badillo’s killer when he visited the hospital to see his newborn baby. Eddie cuffed him with Badillo’s handcuffs. The man who shot Peter was also caught. Frank presented him with a bullet from the gun that the shooter fired, telling him he “dodged a bullet.”

The Reagans Attended a Funeral

The Reagans all gathered for a funeral for Badillo. His mother was also in attendance and broke down in tears. Frank shared some kind words with her as they saluted Badillo’s coffin.

The Final Family Dinner

A lot of familiar faces returned for the final family dinner, including the grandkids we haven’t seen in a while. Eddie and Jamie announced they were expecting a baby in June. The family was thrilled by the news. “You know we got a lot to be thankful for, and I look around this table and I got to say, I couldn’t be more proud or grateful,” Frank said in the closing scene of the series finale.
