Hoda Kotb Defends Wearing Jean Jackets in Passionate Rant on ‘Today’ After Online Debate
Hoda Kotb is very passionate about her style choices! The Today host went on a rant about wearing jean jackets after watching a TikTok video that criticized the fashion trend.
“Here’s the thing about a jean jacket,” she told cohost Jenna Bush Hager during a November 22 episode of the show. “You’ve got on a sundress, and you’re going out, but you walk into places that are chilly. What are you gonna throw on?”
“A cardigan?” Jenna, 43, hilariously asked.
“No,” Hoda, 60, declared. “You’re gonna throw on your jean jacket.”
“I like it,” she said about wearing jean jackets. “It fits, it’s nice, it’s got an inside pocket — you can put your phone in there.”
Jenna had the funniest response to Hoda’s speech about the clothing item. “My favorite thing is when you make a plea for an object that’s not alive,” the former first daughter remarked.
“Here’s the good news. She’s just talking to Millennials,” she added. “She ain’t even talking to you.”
“She don’t know me!” Hoda quipped. “You don’t know me!”
Jenna replied, “She don’t know a minivan driving mother,” referencing the minivan that Hoda recently purchased after moving to the suburbs. The NBC personality moved her life into a new home with her daughters, Haley and Hope, just outside of the city this year.
“Breaking news … I drove my minivan!” Hoda told Today viewers on November 18. “I got in the Toyota Sienna, which is, BAM — I love it! I got in there, I pushed the buttons … then I went to the grocery store.”
“Did you actually need groceries?” Jenna wondered, to which Hoda candidly replied, “No, I didn’t. I wanted somewhere to go.”
Needless to say, Hoda is more than happy with her new vehicle purchase.
“I love my minivan so much,” Hoda declared. “It feels like you are flying in a plane at 35,000 feet … my kids piled in, they want to sit in the way back, go ahead because this is a big old bus.”
She said that some of her neighbors have taken notice of her new wheels.
“Some of the neighbors are texting me, ‘Hey girl, saw your ride. You picking up the kids next time?’” the mom of two revealed. “Because I couldn’t drive the kids because I had a little car.”
Getting a minivan is just part of the big transition that Hoda is making in her life after announcing plans to leave Today in early 2025. Craig Melvin was announced as her replacement in the show’s early morning hours starting on January 13.
For Hoda, she’s looking forward to getting to make memories with her kiddos in their new neighborhood and to have a new daily routine.
“I’ve found out, in my town, there’s a 5:30 Soul Cycle class which I’m going to start,” she told E! News on October 25 of what’s to come. “Then I’m going to go back and feed my kids breakfast and I am going to make a coffee to go in my Yeti.”
