Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Defend Duchess Meghan Against Public Scrutiny: ‘Shame on Everybody’

Former first lady Hillary Clinton and former first daughter, Chelsea Clinton, are standing up for Duchess Meghan! The two ladies spoke out in support of the 28-year-old royal in a recent interview with The Sunday Times about all of the negative backlash Meghan has been receiving from the media lately.

“I’m a huge Meghan Markle fan,” Hillary gushed about Prince Harry‘s wife when she was asked whether she thought Meghan was a gutsy woman. Chelsea simply replied, “Yes, she is.”

During the interview, Hillary, 71, and Chelsea, 39, made it very clear that they aren’t a fan of the way Meghan has been treated lately.

“I do want to say that the way she’s been treated is inexplicable,” Hillary said in disgust. “If the explanation is that she’s biracial, then shame on everybody.”

Chelsea also made sure her voice was heard alongside her mom’s. “I also think it’s because she proudly had a career first and has a voice that she thankfully continues to use,” she added. “Anyone who has the temerity to break the mold of what has previously been established and expected often, unfortunately, receives criticism and bile that I don’t understand.”

Since Meghan married Harry in a beautiful royal wedding in May 2018, she has been under intense public scrutiny and her husband is no longer standing idly by. He voiced his opinion about how the media treats his wife in a statement he released in early October.

“I have been a silent witness to her private suffering for too long. To stand back and do nothing would be contrary to everything we believe in,” he said. “There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behavior, because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level. We won’t and can’t believe in a world where there is no accountability for this.”
