Hilary Swank’s Husband Philip Schneider: Learn About Her Spouse

There’s no denying the huge smile on Hilary Swank‘s face is thanks to husband Philip Schneider. The Million Dollar Baby star has kept a low profile when it comes to their relationship, but she seems happier than ever since tying the knot with the handsome businessman.

“I have to say — he’s great,” Hilary, who revealed she and Philip are expecting twins in October 2022, gushed to People in May 2019. “It took a long time to get the right guy. I kissed a lot of frogs before getting here. There’s not anything I would really change about him.”

The Oscar winner’s romance with the California native began when the two were set up on a blind date in 2014. Recalling their first meeting during an interview with Vogue, Hilary remembered spending all day with Philip because they had one of the best times together.

“It was a blind date set up by actor Misha Collins‘ wife Vicki and another close friend Jean,” she explained. “We met at 10 a.m. and parted ways at 11 p.m. We clearly enjoyed our time!”

Upon crossing paths, Hilary and the brown-haired hunk started a relationship and quickly fell in love. In 2016, the lovebirds got engaged after a year-and-a-half of dating when Philip asked for the Fatale star’s hand in marriage while vacationing in Colorado.

Hilary and her beau were secretly engaged for nearly two years before they finally said “I do” during a romantic and private wedding ceremony at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California. The pair were surrounded by hundreds of 800-year-old redwood trees, as well as joined by some of their closest family and friends, including Hilary’s best friend and maid of honor, Mariska Hargitay.

Since becoming a married couple, Hilary and Philip have continued to maintain their low-key romance. Though the P.S. I Love You actress doesn’t flaunt their relationship to the world, their rare red carpet moments prove they share such a special bond.

Prior to falling in love with Philip, Hilary was married to her first husband, Chad Lowe, with whom she walked down the aisle in 1997. However, the exes separated in January 2006 after nearly nine years together. Following their split, Hilary said an “accumulation of things [made them] slowly start to drift apart” during an interview with Vanity Fair.

Philip got his career off the ground by becoming a successful businessman, with Vogue describing him as a “social venture entrepreneur.” According to Forbes, that typically means someone who combines “capitalism with a do-gooder mentality.”

As American Business Magazine elaborated, many social venture entrepreneurs invest in businesses that strive to tackle global issues, “such as alleviating hunger, improving education and combating climate change.”

Philip Also Has Film Credits

Besides helping out the world, Philip has also dipped his toes into the Hollywood pond. According to his IMDb page, Hilary’s beau is listed as the property master for numerous films, including Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, CSI: Miami, Marley & Me and dozens of others. According to the website, he has been working in this field since 1987 after landing his first job as the property assistant on Campus Man.

Philip Loves Nature Just as Much as Hilary

Hilary and Philip share a deep love for nature and it’s pretty obvious considering their engagement and wedding plans. Not only did they get engaged after stumbling “upon a beautiful sanctuary deep in the mountains” in Colorado in 2016, but their nuptials took place in the middle of the forest too!

The loving duo wed under a family of 800-year-old trees in Redwood National and State Parks in California in August 2018. “It was timeless. There is just no other way to describe it,” the award winner told Vogue at the time. “I was overwhelmed with such gratitude and thanks to be marrying the man of my dreams and to see all the people we love together in the middle of such a profound setting. It was truly a dream come true.”

Parenthood Was Always the Plan!

Since saying “I do,” fans have been dying to know if the Freedom Writers star has any aspirations to become a mom. Following their nuptials, a source close to the couple revealed the two were “ready to start a family as soon as possible,” OK! magazine reported.

“She finally feels she can live up to her own very high standards of being a devoted mom,” a friend of the couple told the outlet. “She just didn’t have this level of self-assurance 10 years ago, but Philip makes her feel so confident.”
