Honeymoon? More like family-moon! But hey, whatever floats Gwyneth Paltrow‘s boat! According to the Iron Man star, her recent post-wedding honeymoon turned into a family affair as she and her new husband, Brad Falchuk, were joined by some familiar faces on their special getaway.

“We just took our honeymoon in the Maldives and we had a big family honeymoon over Christmas,” the 46-year-old dished to Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest while visiting Live! With Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Gwyn continued, “So, my new husband and his children, my children, my ex-husband, our best family friends [all went]. It was a very modern honeymoon.”

Taken aback by the actress’ confession, Kelly, 48, asked, “Wait, your ex-husband went on your honeymoon?” referring, of course, to Coldplay singer Chris Martin. “I mean, yeah, pretty much,” the blonde beauty said while smiling.

Even Ryan, 44, was flabbergasted by the interesting (but inspiring) family dynamic. When asked what a typical dinner conversation was like, Gwyn said, “Oh, just great conversation and lots of kids and you know what it was great, we had such a good time.”

Perhaps the entire family (and we really mean entire) taking a trip isn’t that weird considering it’s not the first time the amicable exes have been in the same room together with their new significant others. Back in November 2018, Gwyn, Brad, Chris, and his new fling, Dakota Johnson, reportedly spent Thanksgiving together with the former couple’s kids, Apple Martin, 14, and Moses Martin, 12. “They’re a total modern family and had a great time celebrating together,” an insider told People at the time.

While it’s only been reported that Dakota, 29, joined Chris, 41, in the Maldives too, we wouldn’t be surprised after she apparently got a thumbs up from her new beau’s ex-wife. “Gwyneth thinks [Dakota] is lovely. She gets on very well with her and is happy for Chris,” a source dished to E! News after their holiday shindig. “They’ve spent a good amount of time together and have a very nice friendship.”

Even though going on a vacation — let alone a honeymoon — with both your new man and your former man sounds a little awkward, we’re glad to see how big of an effort Gwyn and Chris are making when it comes to co-parenting. In fact, the past lovebirds announced they were “consciously uncoupling” back in 2014, after being married for 10 years, because they felt it was important to be constant in each other’s lives despite divorcing.

“Gwyneth and Chris have the modern family thing down pat and continue to vacation and spend family time together. Especially on holidays, Gwyneth wants nothing more than to be one big happy family and for her kids to be able to celebrate with both of their parents,” the source revealed to E!. “She is very happy she and Chris have been able to make this work so well… It’s very special that they’re all able to come together like this and make it work.” Way to go, Gwyn and Chris!
