‘Grey’s Anatomy’ to Introduce Interesting New Character in Season 14… DeLuca’s Sister!

Big changes are coming to Grey’s Anatomy for Season 14! Though we still have about a month to go before the newest season of the hit medical drama premieres on ABC, actor Giacomo Gianniotti has revealed his Grey’s alter ego, Dr. Andrew DeLuca, will introduce an interesting new character to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the newest episodes… his sister!

“We are bringing my sister [in] as a new character. She is going to be a new presence at the hospital. She comes from Italy, as my character is Italian, and you get to see us exchanging some blows in Italian, which will be very interesting,” the 28-year-old actor revealed to [Entertainment Tonight]( on Sunday, Aug. 6.

So, does that mean DeLuca’s sibling is a surgeon, too? “Her profession, although we can’t disclose it, is a very interesting one,” Giacomo coyly added. “It’s going to keep a lot of the doctors on their toes, make some doctors uncomfortable, [and] some people will be glad about [her coming on]. She’ll stir things up with a European background and take on medicine.”

Sadly, Giacomo — who first joined the Grey’s Anatomy cast back in 2014’s Season 11 — could not divulge which actress will be playing DeLuca’s sister in the upcoming episodes, though he did confirm a star has already been cast. “I can’t wait for [the fans] to meet her. She’s lovely. She’s going to be a great new addition to the show. This season, we’re definitely going to get to know DeLuca a lot better. The writers have told me that they’re fleshing him out a lot,” he said. We can’t wait!
