If you’re a fan of Grey’s Anatomy, you know that there’s always the strangest love stories on the show. I mean, we’re to the point now where a potential brother and sister could end up dating. Ok, we’re kidding. Jackson Avery (played by Jesse Williams) and Maggie Pierce (played by Kelly McCreary) aren’t technically related, but their parents are married, so it’s awkward to put it simply.

Maggie’s biological father, Dr. Richard Weber, and Jackson’s mother, Catherine Avery, are married, but apparently, Jackson and Maggie don’t care! Ever since Jackson and April Kempner (played by Sara Drew) ended (and since Maggie gave up her crush on Nathan Riggs, played by Martin Henderson), there’s been a budding romance between the two, and in the Jan. 18 episode, Jackson actually asked her on a date.

Maggie responded to his offer saying how weird it would be, but before Jackson could convince her otherwise, her scheduled Tinder date showed up! Long story short, creator Shonda Rhimes has been hinting at a romantic relationship between the two, and after last week, we’re dying to know what’s next for them!

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kelly opened up about her opinion of “Jaggie.” “I had heard whisperings of it, but it took a long time to come to fruition and it kind of came out of nowhere, as much as for us actors as it did for the audience,” she shared. “But I think that’s true of some of most beloved storylines on Grey’s came out of nowhere: long-lost siblings that nobody expected and nobody knew existed, love affairs, sexual awakenings, all kinds of things.”

“I think that often the surprises, whichever direction they go in, they really serve to keep the stories rich and interesting, and the audience loves them, whether they think they knew it first or not,” she continued. “Maggie and Jackson have a lot of interesting points of connection and whatever winds up happening between them, whether it’s romantic or not, we haven’t really seen them engage that much as characters. That’ll be a great way to get to know each of them, to get a little bit more into their psyches and their histories and their desires and what makes them laugh and just get to know them a little bit better.” We can’t wait to see where this relationship goes, that’s for sure!
