‘Grateful Dead’ Singer Jerry Garcia’s Love Letters To Go Up For Auction — See the Photos!

Two personal love letters penned by Grateful Dead lead singer Jerry Garcia to a female companion he met in the 1980s are going up for auction.

Jerry — who was legally married three times throughout his life — reportedly wrote the letters to a former ‘Vogue’ magazine model he met in NYC during a series of ‘Grateful Dead’ shows at Radio City Music Hall.

“I feel like it’s sort of our first ‘official’ communication somehow. I’ve been hoping we could get together ever since we first met at Al’s that winter nite so long ago (sigh),” Jerry began one letter.

“I hope it doesn’t seem like I’ve been avoiding you, although I admit I’ve kind of been waiting for the opportunity (that is, the ‘right’ opportunity) for us to meet in some kind of neutral context that would be comfortable and relaxed and free of any pressure,” he continued.

Though the model and musician had a two-year friendship, they were allegedly never intimate. The woman — who asked to remain anonymous in the sale — is auctioning off the notes from Jerry to pay her medical bills.

“He was a person who you felt you knew. Very easy to be with,” the woman told ‘Page Six’ of her relationship with the musician, who sadly passed away at age 53 in August 1995.

The letters are expected to garner between $10,000 and $15,000 and will be sold by RR Auctions.
