At age 71, Glenn Close still has it going on! In a new interview with The Guardian, the actress revealed that she hasn’t lost her sexuality at all as she’s gotten older and still feels the overwhelming passion young couples experience when they are madly in love with each other.
“It’s one of the great myths that you lose your sexuality as you get older,” she revealed. Glenn — who has been married four times in the past — then recalled a time when she was traveling late at night and came across a few young couples making out outside. “I could feel their excitement, the sense of intimacy about to happen. It was extremely powerful,” she shared.
Glenn owns her sexuality and doesn’t let anyone tell her what type of woman she should be. “I feel as free and as creative, as sexual and as eager, as I ever have,” she explained. “And it’s ironic because I’m thinking: ‘How much time do I have left now?’ There are so many things I’m interested in doing. It’s one of those ironies, I suppose, that we sometimes start feeling comfortable in our own skin only late in our lives, but hopefully with enough time to benefit from it.”
Known for playing Alex Forrest in the 1987 classic film Fatal Attraction — among many other famous roles! — Glenn had to prove to producers that she could play a sexy role in the film alongside costar Michael Douglas. She was, of course, successful and today the star admitted getting the chance to prove everyone wrong and display her acting abilities is something she loves most about her profession.
“I’m so glad to do what I do because even though I’m not a method actor and I don’t use my life in my acting, my work is still a progression,” she said. “So what comes after this I’m excited to see. Right now, I’m just enjoying feeling — Chuffed. Isn’t that what you all say? I’m feeling very chuffed.”
