Times are changing for George Clooney! The A-lister — who hasn’t had an acting credit in a film since 2016’s Money Monster — just revealed that he’s near being retired from acting for a few reasons, but mainly because he doesn’t really need the money. Must be nice, George…

“I have money,” the 56-year-old actor told The Sunday Times in a new interview. “So I can fight to make movies I want to make. If you look at what I’ve been in over the past 15 years, for the most part, they weren’t going to get made if I didn’t do them. Nobody was going to make Good Night, and Good Luck, Michael Clayton, or Up in the Air, and I fought to get those out there.”

And now that George is a father-of-two, he realizes that acting isn’t a priority for him anymore. “Look, I acted for a long time and, you know, I’m 56. I’m not the guy that gets the girl anymore,” he said, adding that he “shouldn’t be the guy that gets the girl.” Geoge and his wife, Amal Clooney, married in September 2014 and welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander, in June 2017.

George and his business partners, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldeman, sold their Tequila company, Casamigos, for $1 billion over the summer, which is another reason why he claims he doesn’t need any more cash. However, he’s not 100 percent giving up on acting just yet. “But, look, if somebody’s got Paul Newman in The Verdict, I’d jump. But there aren’t that many like that. Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion f— dollars. I don’t need money.”

George in ER.

Since cutting back on his acting gigs, George and Amal just watch old reruns of ER! “Every once in a while, Amal — because she didn’t really watch television during that period of time — will see it on TV, usually in Europe,” George told Vanity Fair in a previous interview. “And she’ll see it and it just makes us both laugh, because I’ve aged a lot in [the years since]. Yeah, she got me 10 years after that guy, thank god.” Here’s hoping George stays on the big screen for much longer!
