She’s sadly the only designer who will not be returning for the next season of the Trading Spaces reboot but Genevieve Gorder recently revealed that she hopes to make a comeback on the popular show in the future. “It was not my decision at all,” the TLC star dished to People regarding why fans won’t see her on the series’ upcoming season premiering on March 16.

“I had a previous series already scheduled for the same time that we were going to shoot Trading Spaces. So the only thing that happened was just a schedule conflict,” the 44-year-old explained. According to Genevieve, the other series is a “top secret” project that she says will premiere on Bravo in 2019.

Though she’s working on a different project, Genevieve said she doesn’t feel guilty about not taking part in Trading Spaces‘ next season. “First and foremost, these are my friends and my family and we show up for each other. But everyone understood, and everyone knows that we all have careers that we have to manage,” she said of her castmates. The brunette beauty first appeared on the show from 2000 to 2003 before taking a break and returning from 2005 to 2007.

When Genevieve first found on that she wasn’t going to appear on Trading Spaces’ newest episodes, the TV host noted that she wanted to be the one to break the news to her costars. “I wanted to make sure that it was very clear that I wasn’t choosing to not be a part of the season,” she explained. “Rumors can fly and things can get twisted. So I was really clear about telling everybody how sad I was that I wouldn’t be returning, but here’s why and it’s not that anyone thinks that they’re above anything.”

Genevieve wasn’t the only one saddened by the news. Her longtime costars, including host Paige Davis, carpenter Ty Pennington and interior designer Doug Wilsonwere apparently heartbroken by their friend’s announcement. “It was emotional,” Genevieve said. “We were all crying about it because we’re a family. The originals are a family.” Paige, in particular, was upset by Genieve’s news. “She cried. She was like, ‘It’s not gonna be the same without you. We can’t do it without you.’ I was like, ‘I know.’ And I cried too,” she recalled. “I mean, we’re connected forever. She’s the mama bear.”

This may not be the last we see of Genevieve on Trading Spaces, though. When asked if she would consider returning for a third season of the reboot, should it happen, Genevieve couldn’t hold back. “Absolutely available. Absolutely. There’s no way anyone would ever say no. It just feels good,” she gushed. “I always want to do Trading Spaces until the day I die.” Aww!
