Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, co-stars of the hit film Thelma & Louise, excited fans last week when they took a reunion selfie together. And now, 23 years after the crime drama hit theaters, the leading ladies are reminiscing about their ultimate gal pal movie!
Both women joke the toughest part of filming for Geena was her sex scene with a then little-known actor.
"I think that love scene you had with Brad [Pitt] was really hard," Susan teases, to which Geena replies, "It was very challenging! I just didn't know how to get into it."
Turns out the Oscar winner was caught off guard by young Brad's good looks! "I actually read with him first — there were five candidates for the role. And then he came in — this is so embarrassing — but I got a little distracted during the scene, you know?" she giggles.
"I was forgetting my lines. I was like, 'I'm totally screwing up this kid's audition.'" But the hunky actor easily won the part.
"Ridley's [director and producer Ridley Scott] also very much into the look of things. He was personally spraying the Evian on Brad's stomach for the shots where you see his abs and I'm like, 'Hello!'" jokes Geena.
Susan also remembers being impressed by the then 27-year-old. "He's told stories about how professional I was and how I made him a professional — I don't remember any of that! It seemed like it was absolutely, absolutely easy for him," she shares.
The ladies snagged the cover of The Hollywood Reporter's latest issue, which lists the mag's 100 Favorite Films of all-time. Thelma & Louise comes in at 59, while movies like Love Story, Pulp Fiction and West Side Story also make the list.
