Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp could be headed for a romantic reunion!

The couple split in August after a three-year romance due to distance, not disagreements. Meg and her daughter, Daisy, call NYC home, and her son, Jack, attends college there. John, meanwhile, lives in Bloomington, Ind., and has staunchly maintained he could never live in the Big Apple.

But that could all change soon. “He is at the point now that he would move to New York City full-time if it meant Meg would take him back,” a friend of the musician exclusively reveals to Closer Weekly.

“Meg’s told John she’s as happy as she’s been in a long time, she loves the city, she loves raising her family there and, with or without John, she’s going to continue to move forward,” another pal tells Closer.

According to his friends, John doesn’t want Meg moving forward without him. John recently called his ex an “angel” on Today, adding, “You know, nothing’s over till it’s over.” Those flattering words were “definitely meant for Meg to hear,” a friend confirms.
