Talk about a close call! Emma Thompson is happily married to her husband, fellow actor Greg Wise, but that almost didn’t come to fruition due to Kate Winslet.

The 60-year-old actress appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, January, 24, and revealed what went down on the set of the 1995 film Sense and Sensibility — a movie that also starred the Titanic star, 44. “Before [Greg] did the job, he went to see a friend of his who was a bit witchy and she said he would meet his future partner on the film Emma explained. “He assumed it wasn’t me because I was married and quite a lot older than him so he thought it might be Kate.”

So what occurred? Well Emma’a now-husband took Kate to the Glastonbury music festival on a date. “She was so bored, and he thought, ‘This isn’t going to work, who can it be?’” the Nanny McPhee star continued. “Then things happened that probably shouldn’t have happened, and it’s been 25 years in May.” Incredible!

“[Kate] pointed out that we were right for each other and told me that Emma’s marriage was over. It was all meant to be, just as my friend Helen had predicted,” Greg once explained to Express of the situation.

The pair tied the knot in 2003, and share two kids — daughter Gaia, and adopted son Tindy. This isn’t the first time that the Oscar winner has opened up about the love of her life. She once revealed how her man truly impacted her in the best way. “Work saved me and Greg saved me,” Emma recalled. “He picked up the pieces and put them together again.”

Aside from being all about her family life, Emma is also embracing herself even more as the years go by. “I look my age, and I don’t mind that — being old is heaven,” she said at a fundraising event in London. “I want to enjoy every minute and use the wisdom I’ve accrued.

We are just so happy that everything turned out great!
