Elton John once sang of a pauper named Levon born on Christmas Day, but a real-life birth easily tops that!

Zachary was born on Christmas Day in 2010. It was pretty amazing,” Elton tells Closer about his first son, born via surrogate, with partner David Furnish.

The feelings that washed over Elton as he held his newborn for the first time left him awestruck. “What can you say,” says Elton. “You take it in. The feeling, the joy, the warmth of his body, his breathing.”

The moment was extra special for the couple, who had yearned to be parents. “Now that this wish has been granted to us, we feel so blessed and lucky,” Elton raved after their son’s arrival.

Then they got to experience baby joy all over again!

“I didn’t think it could get better than that, and then Elijah was born two years later. Their births were the best days of our lives,” raves Elton, 67, who plans to make his family complete when he marries David, 51, in England this May.
