While there are tons of fans left of Grey’s Anatomy, you can count Ellen Pompeo‘s husband, Chris Ivery, as not one of them at all, and that’s mainly because he is not about watching his wife in some “awkward love scenes.”

“There was a time back in the day that I watched it a lot, but then I didn’t know if she had a lover,” the 53-year-old told Us Weekly at the Launch of Sergio Tacchini STLA collection in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 21. “I would say I’m not jealous; I’m really confident, but it’s awkward. She’s acting but now she’s got this new lover, which I know him, Giacomo [Gianniotti].”

In the medical drama, the 49-year-old’s character, Meredith Grey, has started a relationship with Giacomo’s character, Dr. Andrew DeLuca. Chris continued, “He’s a great guy. I actually like him. And to be honest, I haven’t watched those scenes because I feel like it can be awkward.”

But while the music producer isn’t rushing to see the ABC program, he still admits that he is his wife’s “biggest fan.” “What’s the secret? We’ve been doing it for a long time. I think the secret is taking the time that we need,” Chris explained. “Like if it’s me and her and we need a date night, we take it. It’s just sort of supporting each other. And obviously with three kids it’s ample. Her on set, me downtown, it’s a lot. But she’s my biggest fan. I’m her biggest fan.”

The pair said I do in 2007, and have three kids together — Stella, 9, Sienna, 4, and Eli, 2. Ellen once revealed how it is important for her and Chris to show their children all sorts of cultures. “As moms and dads, we have the responsibility to expose our children to all different types of people,” she said on an episode of Red Table Talk. “To show them the differences in the world.”

These two just seem like a great team — just don’t make Chris watch Grey’s Anatomy.
