Here’s your chance to live in real life Meredith Grey‘s house! Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Ivery just put their Sag Harbor, NY farmhouse up for sale and it can be all yours — for the little price of $3.795 million, that is. But once you see the photos of the stunningly rustic, yet modern, home, you may rethink the lofty price tag! Watch the video below for a virtual tour of the farmhouse!
Ellen and Chris purchased the house back in 2011 for $925,000, according to Variety.
In an interview with Architectural Digest, the Grey’s Anatomy actress revealed that she first fell in love with the history of the property. “There was a cabin, which was built by a woman who was a civil rights activist lawyer. She actually built it with her own two hands,” Ellen said. “Originally, I was given the advice to build on the original footprint of the cabin, because it would save time and money. Well, it didn’t save either,” she added jokingly.
Whoever ends up buying the vacation home will have a house full of Ellen’s own design touches, which undoubtedly adds to its value. It turns out interior design is a passion of Ellen’s, and she’s taken on several projects in the past. “This was the first modern barn I have done. I have two Mediterranean homes, and I have two modern homes as well, and I have just finished my Malibu house, which is midcentury. They are like completely different paintings to me,” she revealed to Architectural Digest.
“I was looking to do something modern and hip and young, and I wanted to do something you don’t see out there — I wanted to do something different,” she continued. “It’s decorated in a way that’s a fresh look compared to those Hamptons places that all look like they’re owned by 60-year-old Hamptons billionaires, with the shingles and the light columns. They all put me to sleep.” Too funny!

Now that her Hamptons vacation home is on the market, does this mean Ellen is looking for another design project? She certainly has the money to do it, with her recent Grey’s contract extension. The actress just signed a two-year contract, meaning the beloved medical drama lives on for another two seasons, at least! And Ellen’s probably happy too, since she’ll be bringing in a reported $575,000 per episode, officially making her the highest paid actress on a TV drama. Much deserved!
“I’m 48 now, so I’ve finally gotten to the place where I’m OK asking for what I deserve, which is something that comes only with age,” Ellen said about the salary negotiation. “Because I’m not the most ‘relevant’ actress out there. I know that’s the industry perception because I’ve been this character for 14 years. But the truth is, anybody can be good on a show season one and two. Can you be good 14 years later? Now, that’s a f–kin’ skill.”
