Reports surfaced earlier this week that 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas’ husband, Marc Cohn, cheated on his wife while she was in rehab for alcoholism, and now the musician is fighting back against the allegations.

“I have no comment regarding vicious rumors about a so-called ‘affair,'” the Grammy-winning songwriter said in a statement on Thursday, March 13.

Elizabeth Vargas: “I Am An Alcoholic”

Various outlets have claimed that Cohn began an affair with Flywheel Sports co-founder Ruth Zukerman after Vargas entered rehab in November for alcohol abuse. Zukerman is a mutual friend of the couple.

At the end of January, the journalist appeared on Good Morning America, admitting she was an alcoholic.

“It took me a long time to admit that to myself. It took me a long time to admit it to my family, but I am,” she shared on the program.

Vargas recalled being “really angry, really angry” when her husband told her she had a problem. “But he was right,” she said. “I mean, denial is huge for any alcoholic.”

The couple have been married for 12 years and are parents to sons Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 7, as well as Cohn’s son and daughter from a previous marriage. Vargas has yet to comment on the alleged affair.
