Just when we thought we knew everything about staying young, June Brown proves us wrong. In a new interview with Radio Times magazine, June, 92, reveals her best tips for living long and says the only thing you have to do is enjoy yourself.
“I’m going to die of something fairly soon, so why not enjoy myself,” she reportedly said, according to The Guardian. June doesn’t even stay away from sweets. If she wants it then she’ll have it! “[I] love red wine and also dark chocolate, even though I’m allergic to it and it makes me sneeze,” she noted. “And the Guinness helps me keep a bit of weight on. So I don’t need to be careful about what I eat or drink.”
June already has it all figured out and since she’s enjoying life, she doesn’t feel the need to stop smoking. “What’s the point of counting how many cigarettes I smoke a day?” she said. “I’ve been on them for over 70 years.”
Although June looks like she’s living the good life, she wishes that her eyesight could be better so she could interact with her friends more. “I’ve got very poor sight. I’ve got extra lenses inside my eyes to try to help me read better,” June admitted. “They help with peripheral vision, but I’ve got no central vision.”
Due to her poor eyesight, the Sitting Target actress mainly stays at home. She doesn’t even go to as many red carpet events as she used to because of her vision. “I can’t go out socially,” June confessed. “I never go to soap awards now. I don’t recognize people I know and they would think that I was snubbing them.”
Luckily for June, she can stay at home and watch all of her favorite award shows from the comfort of her own living room. She might even like to watch some of her most famous movies like EastEnders and Misunderstood when she’s hanging out with her family!
