Not exactly the family dog. Drew Barrymore went above and beyond for her daughters when she finally got them a mouse they’ve been asking for.

The 44-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday, June 12, to share a video of herself with a new pet. “When your daughter has been asking for mice for so many years and you finally cave,” the actress captioned the clip, adding, “#petco #momlife.” The mouse can be seen crawling on Drew’s neck and shoulders in the vid.

Fans had all sorts of different reactions to the clip, as they rushed to the comments section to respond. “Be careful, they will have like a zillion babies! Been there done that,” one person warned. Another said, “I have a new respect for you after seeing this. OMGawd, I think I pee’d a little watching this!!!”

It seems like the mouse is getting comfortable with his new family, as Drew later shared a clip of the little creature happily spinning in his wheel. “Oh … it’s ON!” the Wildflower author wrote.

The Never Been Kissed star shares her two daughters — Olive, 6, and Frankie, 5 — with her ex-husband Will Kopelman. The couple married in 2012 but parted ways in 2016. “[Divorce] was just like my worst nightmare,” the Santa Clarita Diet actress once said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I so wanted to raise kids in this ultra-traditional way and do everything so the polar opposite of my experience.”

“And you know, it really is about the tone you set, and you can talk until you’re blue in the face, but kids watch what you do every single day of your life, all day long, and that behavior and that example and that love and community and honesty is just, I think, what’s making everything feel safe for my kids,” Drew added.

However, while the pair aren’t together anymore, they did recently reunite to celebrate Frankie’s kindergarten graduation — a moment that the fans were loving!
