Singer Donny Osmond just proved that nothing will hold him back from creating new music — even a shoulder surgery! The Donny & Marie star took to Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 9 to share a photo of himself playing the piano while wearing a sling on his right arm.

“Writing music five days after shoulder surgery is a little harder than I thought it would be,” the 61-year-old wrote in the caption. “Maybe I should call this song ‘Shoulder of Love.'” Poor guy! Take a look at the photo that Donny shared below.

Fans were eager to send their warm wishes Donny’s way after he posted the photo of himself understandably struggling while playing the piano. “Hope you heal fast, my prayers are with your family too,” one user wrote in the comments. “[I] hope the healing is quick and you’re back to your ‘normal’ self soon,” said another.

The new year started off rough for Donny after he revealed that he injured his shoulder while dancing. “Turns out dancing accidents aren’t so convenient after all,” he wrote while announcing that his injury required surgery. “I’m home after a successful shoulder surgery and settling in for some serious #RestandRecovery.”

However, things began to look up for the former Dancing With the Stars winner after he announced that he has new music in the works nearly 50 years since the release of his first solo effort. “I’m excited to let you in on a little secret. I’ve officially started working on my 62nd album,” Donny announced via Instagram on Monday, Jan. 7. “I’ll keep you posted throughout the year as I continue creating it, but I have a feeling you’re going to love it.”

The exciting news came as a pleasant surprise to longtime fans of the former teen idol. “Congratulations, Donny, that’s awesome. I have many albums you made and they’re all fantastic. Can’t wait for your new one,” wrote one fan. “Long overdue in my opinion. Can’t wait,” said another.

Though he should probably be resting, it looks like Donny is just as excited about his anticipated new music as his fans are. In the meantime, we wish nothing but a speedy recovery for the “Soldier Of Love” singer!
