Blue Bloods is expanding its universe with the new show Boston Blue, and fans have already gotten a taste of what’s to come in a new teaser trailer.

On Tuesday, March 25, CBS dropped a short teaser to promote Boston Blue, starring Donnie Wahlberg.

“Coming CBS fall Blue Bloods’ Donnie Wahlberg in the new series Boston Blue,” the voice over for the video said.

A couple of clips of Donnie, 55, as his Blue Bloods character, Danny Reagan, flashed on the screen, along with a view of Boston. The new series will take place in Boston, where the New Kids on the Block Member is from.

So far, a short synopsis of the show was released by the network on February 18.

“CBS today announced a straight to series order for BOSTON BLUE (working title), a new drama starring Donnie Wahlberg, for the 2025-2026 broadcast season,” the press release said. “In BOSTON BLUE, a universe expansion of the long-running top drama BLUE BLOODS, Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”

“BOSTON BLUE is produced by CBS Studios in association with JBTV. Brandon Sonnier & Brandon Margolis will showrun and executive produce,” the press release continued. “Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg will also serve as executive producers.”

Donnie shared the teaser on his Instagram account and fans went wild, revealing their excitement for the upcoming Blue Bloods offshoot series.

“So excited for you and the new show!! And maybe some cameos ???‍⚕️!! #LFG #BB,” one person wrote underneath to post, to which Donnie replied with a blue heart emoji and a police officer emoji.

“The first promo! My excitement level for this is 100,” another person wrote.

“Now we need to know when and where filming will be! I’ve always wanted to visit Boston! Congrats Donnie!” a third person commented.

“Let’s go!!!! Can’t wait. So excited for you and for us. Let’s keep the blessings coming!” another commenter said.

“This is gonna be legendary! So excited for this next chapter!” someone else wrote.

“So excited for this and THRILLED for you, @donniewahlberg! Looking forward to watching this next beautiful chapter of your journey unfold!” another fan said.

Blue Bloods ended with an emotional series finale in December 2024, with Danny appearing at the final family dinner along with his father, siblings, grandfather and kids. The singer hinted that Danny’s story wasn’t over when he was asked about whether or not he was interested in a spinoff on multiple occasions.

Still, it was quite emotional for everyone to say goodbye to Blue Bloods as they knew it.

“The last day on the set of Blue Bloods was a lot of tears,” Donnie told TV Insider in October 2024. “My final day was in the squad room where Danny and Baez filmed most of their scenes and Tom Selleck doesn’t come to the squad room ever—I don’t think he’s ever been in the squad room—but he came that day to watch us film the last day of the show. And seeing him there and seeing the emotion on his face, just it, yeah, turned on the waterworks for me.”
