With songs like “9 to 5” and “Jolene,” it’s hard to not like any of Dolly Parton‘s feel-good music. But in a new interview with Good Morning Britain, the 73-year-old singer admitted that her husband, Carl Dean, is not really a fan of her country tunes and barely shows up to her concerts.

“He’s not necessarily one of my biggest fans of my music,” Dolly explained. “He’s proud of me and he loves that I love what I do but I think it’s just a touchy subject. I’m like his little girl I think, and he just worries about that. But he likes hard rock, he likes Led Zeppelin and bluegrass music so my music is somewhere in between. He doesn’t dislike it but he doesn’t go out of his way to play my records. Let’s put it that way.”

Dolly and Carl, 76, have been married since 1966 and though Carl doesn’t normally show up to a lot of Dolly’s concerts, they still have a great relationship. “We like each other, we respect each other, we’ve always had a good time,” Dolly said about the secret to her successful marriage. “He’s crazy and I’m crazy. We laugh a lot and I think that’s been one of the most precious parts of our relationship.”

Dolly has been with Carl for such a long time that she can’t imagine her life without him. “We’ve been together most of our lives,” Dolly previously told People. “I travel a lot, but we really enjoy each other when we’re together and the little things we do,” and when the superstar performer is at home, Dolly likes to keep herself dolled up for her man.

“He knows I’m always going to kind of be fixed up for him because I don’t believe in going home and being a slouch,” she gushed. “He doesn’t care what I wear as long as I’m happy. He loves me the way I am.”
