Now that Princess Beatrice‘s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, is engaged, everyone is dying to know if she’s next (can’t we just let her live?). More specifically, they’re curious if the royal has a boyfriend these days!

So it turns out, Beatrice is currently royally single, however, she was previously taken for quite some time. Beatrice, 29, was in a relationship with Dave Clark for 10 years until the couple unexpectedly broke up in summer 2016 (we’re still not over that).

At the time of their split, a source told Daily Mail: “After ten years together, Beatrice and Dave had to wonder why they were not married. They talked it through and decided to take time apart to reflect on the future. They remain friends and the decision to break up was mutual.”

Beatrice allegedly gave Dave a marriage ultimatum after Princess Charlotte was born since that meant she no longer had to seek Queen Elizabeth’s permission to get married because her birth pushed her to seventh in line for the throne. “Beatrice has become a lot more assertive and confident recently. She gave Dave an ultimatum, but it backfired because he did not ask her to marry him. They both agreed that with no marriage in their future, it was time to go separate ways,” a source shared.

Shortly after their breakup, an insider shared they had talked periodically. “They had a very co-dependent relationship, so they haven’t yet managed to completely cut off contact,” the source said. “They speak occasionally and they sometimes refer to the split as ‘a break.’ But it has been over for a month now and there doesn’t seem to be any reconciliation on the cards.” A few months later, David unexpectedly got engaged to New York advertising executive Lynn Anderson after just four months of dating! Awkward…

After getting out of her long-term romance, Beatrice began focusing more on her work (she even lives in Manhattan). She works at Afiniti.com (an American software company). She’s also a patron for York Musical Society and the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre. However, she was recently spotted with 31-year-old American oil heir, Michael Hess, who was a good friend of David’s. Who knows where that’ll go!

With Eugenie’s wedding looming, we bet Beatrice will focus on being the best Maid of Honor (we’re assuming she’ll pick her!) before beginning to search for love again, but we really hope she meets the right guy eventually!
