Get ready, because this is quite the tongue twister! Dermot Mulroney and Dylan McDermott are finally teaming up to work on the new FOX show L.A. to Vegas! The duo have confused fans for years with their similar names, and they're fully aware of how hilarious it is that now they'll share a credit together!
“Isn’t it time?!" joked Dermot to Us Weekly. "First of all, it’s overdue. It’s 30 years in the making! It’s been like setup, setup, setup … setup, setup, setup, 30 years later, here’s the joke!"
The pair will play rivals in the comedy about an airline, and Dermot finds that's poetic in a goofy way. “In our contemporary time, nothing really works unless it has an extra spin on it — a meta level," he explained. "So I mean, it’s really the perfect time for Dylan and I to finally be on a set together. The storyline makes the most of that imagined rivalry. This show is a scream, people are going to s—t themselves. It’s that funny.”
We can't wait to see how these two hunks complement each other on screen after all these years of not being entirely sure which one we were watching. As a matter of fact, the duo came thisclose to working together before, but were separated by seasons. Dylan has starred in American Horror Story in the past, but wasn't seen in the most recent season of the anthology series. Instead, Dermot had a role in AHS: Cult, though it didn't last too long.
"I was a sexual harasser who got his own," said Dermot of his early death. "This was all written before any of that [was] revealed. So in terms of American Horror Story reading the future, I just found it phenomenal that Ryan Murphy and his writers turn revenge and hate on its head. I think the season actually had some deeper social content and it blew my mind that that was happening when it already conceived of this season. They beat the game somehow. It’s super fascinating.”
