Dennis Quaid Fondly Remembers Marriage to Meg Ryan as His “Most Successful Relationship”

Though it’s been 17 years since Dennis Quaid’s messy divorce from Meg Ryan, the actor still has fond memories of his marriage to America’s sweetheart. During a candid new Today interview with Megyn Kelly, the 64-year-old actor called his time with Meg his “most successful relationship.”

“[It was] my most successful relationship. When we met, you know, I was the big deal. And then my career [came to a halt]… We’d go out on the streets of New York and it would be like, ‘Meg! Meg!’ And I have to admit it, I actually did feel like I disappeared. I didn’t think I was that small, but I was. It was a growth opportunity. I learned from that,” Dennis revealed.

Dennis was previously married to Meg, 56, for 10 years from 1991 until 2001. Prior to their highly-publicized split, the couple welcomed their now 26-year-old son, Jack Quaid, in April 1992.

During another recent interview, Dennis admitted that he and Meg are “friendly” today. “You have to be [friendly with an ex] after a while. If you’re bitter still after 15 years — and still holding grudges — something’s wrong with you, not with them,” he told the Radio Times.

Following their divorce, Dennis moved on with his third wife, Kimberly Buffington, whom he tied the knot with in July 2004. The couple welcomed twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace via surrogate before ending their marriage in 2016. Meg has since moved on with John Mellencamp, whom she’s had an on-again, off-again relationship with since 2010. The actress also adopted a daughter, Daisy True, as a single mom in 2006.
