Poor Demi Moore! The A-list actress’ American Express credit card was allegedly stolen recently, Entertainment Tonight revealed.

The news outlet has reported that in mid-March, a man named David Matthew Read stole the card and allegedly spent a whopping $169,000 on it at stores like Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue in LA (there is reportedly video surveillance to prove it).

But Demi wasn’t the one to notice the unusual statement. Apparently, her assistant reached out to the credit card company to report the fraudulent acts but soon learned someone had already reported the card stolen and requested a replacement — but it wasn’t her. “D.M.’s personal assistant stated that neither she nor D.M. made this report or request,” said the document obtained by ET. Read allegedly requested a new card via FedEx and he was somehow able to pick it up…

In early April, Read was arrested and he reportedly is currently still in jail in LA. “In a post Miranda interview on April 5th, 2018, Read admitted to obtaining D.M.’s credit card without authorization and fraudulently using it to make purchases at stores,” the complaint said, according to ET. We feel so horrible that Demi was a part of this scary fraud!

The 55-year-old — who is known for films like Striptease, G.I. Jane, and Now and Then — has shied away from the spotlight recently (although thanks to her three daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, we get to see her on social media a lot even though she doesn’t have her own accounts). We’ve also seen her in shows like Empire and Animals this year. Her upcoming projects include Love Sonia and Corporate Animals.
