Admittedly it’s not like a crossover between Friends and Will & Grace, but it’s still pretty amazing news: actor David Schwimmer (perhaps you caught him once or twice as Ross Geller?) will be joining the new season of NBC’s hit reborn sitcom, Will & Grace. He’ll be appearing in what is, at this point, scheduled to be a five-episode story arc in which he will play the boyfriend to Debra Messing’s Grace Adler. Given how well the two of them play neurotic, it should be interesting to see how they play off of each other.

When Friends ended its 10-year run, most of the cast members continued working in film and television, largely in the comedy genre. David has scored his most acclaim in the dramatic part of Robert Kardashian in the limited series The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. Fans may not realize that the actor actually had some of his earliest success in dramas, appearing in five episodes of L.A. Law, four episodes of NYPD Blue, and three episodes of Band of Brothers

For its part, Will & Grace originally ran from 1998-2006. The cast reunited for an online political short for the last presidential election that went over so well, NBC ended up bringing the show back for a ninth season in 2017, 11 years after the original ended. That, in turn, went over so well that not only is the show coming back for a 10th season beginning Oct. 4, but it’s already been renewed for a third season, which will bring the total number of seasons (so far) to 11.

One person genuinely excited about the addition of David is Ms. Messing herself, who sent out an Instagram message that read, “Grace is getting a [heart emoji] INTEREST!!!! Yes, that’s right! David Schwimmer is coming to play in my sandbox and I. AM. PSYCHED!!!!!”

Yep, we can absolutely tell.
