Daniel Day-Lewis Is Recovering After Motorcycle Accident (EXCLUSIVE)
He’s on his way! Closer Weekly can exclusively reveal that actor Daniel Day-Lewis is getting back on the right track after breaking his arm in a motorbike accident earlier this month. The star was spotted walking around the West Village of NYC with his left arm in a cast, while an eyewitness revealed he was wearing “hospital bracelets and had a gauze bandage on his right hand.”
At the time, a source told Page Six, “He was in a motorbike accident and broke his arm. But he’s fine, and no one else was hurt. He was well-protected — he was wearing a helmet. But it was a bummer. It wasn’t his fault.”
This comes on the heels of the Lincoln star’s retirement from acting. Back in June, his spokeswoman Leslee Dart released a statement. “Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject,” it read. Throughout his career, Daniel won three Academy Awards under the Best Actor category.
Daniel has been married to filmmaker Rebecca Miller since 1996 and together they have two sons, 19-year-old Ronan Cal and 15-year-old son, Cashel Blake. At the time of his retirement announcement, a source told Radar Online the decision was made to spend more time with his kids. “I think he got to the stage of his life where he wanted to spend more time with his wife and their sons. It used to be difficult for him to be away from them because he would get so immersed in his roles and that is no longer a priority in his life,” they said.
