Maks is sadly sidelined due to injury

Earlier on Monday, March 27, pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy took to Instagram to reveal he wouldn't be competing on tonight's show due to a calf injury. "It's my calf muscle. F—k. It just feels like something hit it," the dancer said during rehearsal footage.

Thankfully, troupe dancer ** Alan Bersten** was able to perform with Maksim's partner, Glee star Heather Morris, for the week two DWTS episode. The duo received a 30/40 from the judges for their jive.

After Heather and Alan's dance, Maks gave co-host Erin Andrews an update on his injury and revealed he hopes to be back performing on the show soon.

"I'm flying out to get whatever needs to happen to happen tomorrow morning and then after that, fingers crossed for a speedy recovery," he said. "It's actually not one of those ice it, roll-out, and come back to work the next day [situations] as I'd hoped. But, it's not the first time I've been hurt before and I'll definitely be back."

"Grumpy" Len gives low scores to fan-favorites

Throughout the show, many DWTS fans took to Twitter to criticize judge Len Goodman for giving noticeably low scores — lots of 5s and 6s! — to several dancers including Bonner Bolton, Heather Morris, Charo, Nick Viall, and Chris Kattan.

"I understand that Len judges as he sees it, however, he is some kinda cranky tonight… jeez!" one Twitter user wrote with another adding, "Is it me or is Len being extra mean tonight?"

Chris breaks down in tears over his neck injury

On the Season 24 premiere, we learned Chris Kattan sadly broke his neck prior to joining DWTS. Tonight, the SNL star bravely opened up about the past ordeal — and teared up while discussing his debilitating injury.

"Fourteen years ago, I broke my neck while I was working and I've had four surgeries since then. Part of what I used to do was physical comedy, but now I can't," Chris said in his rehearsal footage. "It's really sad when somebody says, 'I miss the old Chris.' That really sucks."

"It's crazy that somebody can have that happen to them and then be brave enough to try something like this," Chris's pro partner Witney Carson said while also starting to cry.

"The reason why I'm doing this competition now is because I can where years before I just couldn't physically do it. It's a comeback really," Chris added. "I may not be the best dancer, but I'm just going to go out there and do what I love doing and have a blast."

The duo then received a score of 22/40 — and praise for their improvement! — from the judges for their jazz routine.

Normani pushes through jet lag to perform

After a busy week of rehearsing in Japan — where the singer is currently on tour with her group Fifth Harmony! — Normani Kordei and her pro partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, performed a near-perfect Cha Cha.

"All I can say is, that was truly dancing with a star!" judge Carrie Ann Inaba said of the high-energy performance. The duo then received a score of 32/40 from the judges' panel. The craziest part? Normani is jetting off again — this time to China! — right after tonight's show!

SPOILER: Chris is voted off

After co-hosts Erin and Tom Bergeron announced Chris and Charo were in the bottom two, Chris and his partner, Witney, were sadly voted off the show. "[Witney] was amazing, she was an amazing inspiration and I couldn't have done this without her. I wish that my surgery and all that was noted before [now], but it wasn't and that's OK. But I had an incredible time, an incredible time," the comedian said. We'll miss you, Chris!
