Move over Carrie, it looks like Miranda is about to own NYC in her own way! That’s right, Cynthia Nixon may be warming up for her biggest role yet — as Governor of New York! The actress, best known for her role as Miranda on Sex and the City, is being tipped to challenge Governor Andrew Cuomo in next year’s race, The Wall Street Journal has reported.
According to the outlet’s report, Cynthia is amongst a number of Democrats potentially set to challenge Andrew for his post, and she has already been approached by liberal groups encouraging her to make her case.

Unlike some other celebrities in politics (cough, cough, Donald Trump), Cynthia is more than qualified for the role. She is an outspoken advocate on political issues, in particular, education policies, and she has played an active role in New York politics since 2014 when she was placed on the advisory board for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.
“She’s an out-of-the-box candidate with progressive credentials who would excite people,” Billy Easton, executive director of the Alliance for Quality Education, a public education advocacy group, told The Wall Street Journal.
While The Wall Street Journal‘s analysis called Cynthia’s chances “a long shot,” we remain excited at the thought. Not just because we’d love to see Miranda in politics but if the 51-year-old actress did successfully secure the position she would become the first woman to do so!
