In what universe is it possible that Rocky Balboa is still a thing? Sylvester Stallone launched the iconic boxer back in 1976 with the release of the original Rocky, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture of the Year. That film inspired five sequels between 1979 and 2006, and the spin-off film Creed in 2015. Now there’s Creed II, which reunites Sly with Michael B. Jordan.

Watch the new Creed II trailer below!

The first Creed presented the story of Adonis Johnson/Creed (Michael), son of former heavyweight champion Apollo (Carl Weathers), who died in the ring fighting Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). In response, Rocky flew to Russia where he engaged with and defeated Drago, culminating in Rocky being wrapped in the American flag by newly-converted Russian fans. All in all, it was pretty cartoony, but Creed II is promising to pick up threads from that film and take them in a decidedly more dramatic fashion.

From what we’ve been able to gather, after Drago was defeated by Rocky, his world collapsed, with him living in poverty and considered by the government to be someone to be mocked and derided. As a result, he’s lived this way for the past 35 years. During that time, however, he fathered a son — Viktor (Florian Munteanu) — who, as Rocky notes in the above trailer, was raised in hate. The result is that he has risen to the top of boxing in Russia and has now challenged Adonis to get in the ring with him. Things move forward to the point where both men take each other on, each seeking some level of retribution from the other.

Other cast members include, of course, Sly reprising the role of Rocky, still serving as Adonis’ trainer; Tessa Thomopson back as Adonis’ girlfriend (pregnant in the trailer), Bianca; and Phylicia Rashad at Adonis’ mother, Mary Anne.

Creed II will be released on Nov. 21.
