Cindy Crawford Reveals Husband Rande Gerber Is Not a Fan of Her Wearing ‘Too Much’ Makeup
Her decades-long modeling career may have centered around beauty and fashion, but Cindy Crawford recently revealed that her husband, Rande Gerber, isn’t always a huge fan of her glammed-up look. In a new video, the superstar shared her husband’s preferences during a beauty tutorial for Vogue.
“My husband hates makeup, so this is already too much makeup for him,” the 53-year-old explained as she took viewers through her everyday makeup routine. “But I do explain to him that women do makeup for other women, not men.”
Cindy did admit that aging has played a huge factor in how much makeup she wears. “I have found as I’ve gotten older I wear way less makeup,” she dished. “I would say that’s the biggest evolution for me which is kind of counter-intuitive, but that also means that taking care of your skin is more important because you’re not covering it up with makeup.”
It was a rough start in the modeling career for Cindy, who confessed that she never saw her mother wear makeup and “knew zero about makeup or skincare” because of that. The blonde beauty explained that she had a rude awakening in the beauty world when her first job required her to do her own makeup. “These divas were like painting themselves, and I just remember standing in the mirror, kind of trying to mimic what they were doing,” Cindy recalled.
Luckily, the Sports Illustrated model was able to learn some tips and tricks along the way from fellow models, as well as many talented makeup artists that she’s worked with over the years. And if Cindy needs any beauty or fashion advice nowadays, she goes to her daughter, Kaia Gerber — who recently took home the Model of the Year award at the 2018 British Fashion Awards this past December.
“I do learn tricks from Kaia. If she wants to do a cat eye, she learns,” the mom-of-two revealed. “She just YouTubes it and all of the sudden she’ll come out and say ‘Oh look I tried this new look today.’ And I’ll be like, ‘Wait how’d you do that?'” We love watching Kaia follow in her mama’s fashionista footsteps!
