Christie Brinkley Reveals Daughter Alexa Ray Joel Hasn’t Started Wedding Planning: “We Gotta Get Serious!” (EXCLUSIVE)

It's an exciting time for Christie Brinkley and her family — her eldest daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, is getting married to her longtime boyfriend, Ryan Gleason! In an exclusive new interview with Closer Weekly, the mother of the bride opened up about wedding planning with Alexa Ray thus far.

"I just got dinner with her and her fiancé last night and was like, 'Guys, when are we going to start the planning phase?'" she recently shared at the NYC premiere of National Geographic's America Inside Out With Katie Couric at the Museum of Modern Art's Titus Theater.

"She goes, 'We were just thinking the same!' We gotta get serious about it now," Christie continued. Alexa Ray announced her engagement on Jan. 1, 2018, with an Instagram post featuring the couple and her gorgeous diamond ring. "So, I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shell-shocked — and for once in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn’t speak," she captioned the image. "I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring — and he was just hysterically laughing at me!"

At the time of her engagement, Alexa Ray's proud mom couldn't help but gush about welcoming Ryan into the family. "I am over the moon with joy for these two! Ryan is the sweetest, kindest, [most] hardworking man who sincerely loves and adores my precious Alexa Ray, so I love him too and while we have always thought of him as family, soon he really will be," Christie wrote on Instagram earlier this year. We can't wait for the wedding!
