You’re never too old to learn how to swim — just look at John Legend! Earlier this week, his supermodel wife, Chrissy Teigen, shared a video of the dad-of-two, 40, taking swim lessons in their backyard pool and, by the looks of it, John appears to be learning very fast!

“Adult swim with @kidswimla — so proud!!!” Chrissy captioned the sweet video of her husband paddling in the water next to his instructor. The 33-year-old mom even shared the video with no sound because she was too excited for John. “I’m cheering too loudly,” she replied to a fan in the post’s comments section who asked why the clip was without sound. Watch the video of John learning to swim below!

A day before Chrissy shared the short clip, John took to Twitter to tell his fans that he really wanted to learn how to swim. “I can’t really swim. Today I took my first swim lesson since I was like 5. My dad learned in his 60s so I feel like I’m ahead of schedule,” he said. And when one of his followers asked him if he was learning with his 2-year-old daughter, Luna Stephens, and her 8-month-old brother, Miles Stephens, he joked, “They already started months ago!”

If John keeps up with his classes, then we bet he’ll become a great swimmer by the end of the year and can then enjoy doing more water activities with Luna. Unlike Chrissy, who has a more strict parenting style with her daughter, she previously said that John is more “laid back” when he’s spending time with Luna.

“He will say no and then if [Luna] asks one more time, it’s a yes,” she admitted. “He’s a bit of a pushover with Luna. I think it’s because they look so much alike and he’s like, ‘Okay, you beautiful being. Anything you want.’” With an adorable daughter like Luna at home, we understand why John rarely tells Luna, “no!”
