How exciting?! Cher is one of the stars of upcoming Mamma Mia sequel alongside Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried, but her presence is the movie isn’t the only thing she’s blessed us with. During her sit-down with Today on Monday, July 16, the music icon revealed she’s releasing a new album of ABBA covers!

“After I did ‘Fernando’ [in the film], I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs,” the 72-year-old told host Kathie Lee Gifford. “So I did!”

But apparently, it won’t be what we’re expecting. “It’s not what you think of when you think ABBA, because I did it in a different way,” she explained. Sadly for us, Cher didn’t say when the new album will be out, but she hinted earlier this summer that it could be in September. “Think album will be out in Sept.,” she wrote on Twitter.

Cher plays Meryl’s mom in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again even though they’re only three years apart in real life. “That doesn’t make any difference,” Cher confessed to People of their age gap. “I was thrilled to death, and it was so silly. It was great fun, and I love her, so it was perfect.”

Meryl even got to watch Cher sing in the film. “It was great, and she was hiding watching me sing, and I was so excited. I didn’t find out until afterwards — I would have been more nervous,” the “Believe” singer revealed.

But between starring in her first movie since Burlesque in 2010 and her Broadway show, The Cher Show, coming out in December, you’d think Cher has limited time for music — but that’s not the case. “Cher’s a workhorse,” a friend confirmed to Closer Weekly in a new exclusive interview. “I don’t think she’ll ever truly retire!”

In fact, Cher feels she’s at her career peak today. “My voice is about 100 times better than ever,” she said. “My voice is really stronger. It’s not diminishing. That sounds pompous, possibly, but it’s true.” You go, girl!
