Well it seems like a wedding will not happen after all. Charlotte Casiraghi, granddaughter to iconic actress Grace Kelly, and her partner, French film producer Dmitri Rassam, have apparently decided to call off their engagement, just nine months after Charlotte said “yes” to Dimitri’s proposal. The surprising news also comes after the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby boy named Balthazar, in October of last year.

According to Hello! magazine, the couple will not be getting married after the pair seemed destined to live happily ever after. Charlotte, 32, met Dimitri, 37, in Paris after she had just split with Italian filmmaker Lamberto Sanfelice. Charlotte, who is the second child of Caroline, Princess of Hanover, was previously in a relationship with actor Gad Elmaleh from 2011 to 2015 before calling it quits. The pair had one son, Raphaël Elmaleh, born in 2013. Since the pair was not married, their son is not included in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne. Dimitri also has a child from a previous marriage to model Masha Novoselova — a daughter named Darya, born in 2011.

According to the outlet, the now-ex couple had reportedly planned to marry in June 2018, but decided to hold off on it until after their son was born. No word yet if the pair will try it again in the near future.

Charlotte is currently ninth in line to the Monegasque throne. Her grandmother was of course Princess Grace of Monaco, while her uncle is Prince Albert II, the latter who is the current monarch. As for Dimitri, he is the son of actress Carole Bouquet, a friend of Charlotte’s mother. After Charlotte and Dimitri met, they kept their relationship on the down-low for the most part, only attending a marriage ceremony together for Charlotte’s half brother, Prince Christian of Hanover, and his wife, Alessandra de Osma, in London in November of 2017.
