CBS revealed the fate of several of the network’s shows, including Justin Hartley’s Tracker. The question of whether or not the show will return for season 3 has finally been answered.

Fans of the drama series will be happy to know that the show was renewed for season 3. Tracker’s fate was revealed along with eight other series in a press release.

“The renewed CBS Original series include #1 entertainment series TRACKER, #1 comedy GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE, #1 new unscripted series HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, plus ELSBETH, FIRE COUNTRY, NCIS, NCIS: ORIGINS and NCIS: SYDNEY. Additionally, the Network has ordered two more seasons of hit comedy GHOSTS, taking the series through the 2026-2027 season,” the press release said.

Additionally, other series, including Kathy BatesMatlock were renewed, which was previously announced. Expansions of the Fire Country and Blue Bloods universes are also coming to the network, along with a new singing competition called The Road and new seasons of Amazing Race and Survivor.

“The original FBI series was formerly renewed through the 2026-2027 broadcast season,” the press release continued. “This brings the total number of series ordered for the 2025-2026 season to 16.”

After Tracker season 3 was greenlit, Justin, 48, shared a video from the set of the show announcing the news to the cast and crew.

“Sharing some really great news today. Thank you all for watching us. Because of the #trackerbackers we get to make more of these @trackercbs episodes. Here we go!!” he captioned the video.

“Congratulations you badass, lovely, nice people!!! You deserve it,” Jensen Ackles, who plays Russell Shaw on the show, wrote in a comment underneath the post.

Others praised the This Is Us star for all of the success that Tracker has seen in its first two seasons, including averaging 18.2 million viewers per episode.

“It is a really redeeming show, fighting the bad… looking for justice and finding the lost… and always teaching us something along the way!” one person wrote in a comment.

“Congratulations Justin! So happy the show will be returning. I think the rating spoke volumes that people want it to stay. Very happy for you, the rest of the cast and crew,” a different person said.

Sterling K. Brown, who starred alongside Justin in This Is Us, also left a supportive comment underneath the post, writing, “Congrats, Bro!!! You ain’t going nowhere for ‘bout 15 years!!!”

“So happy for all of you!!! Love the show. So excited for another season!!!!” another person said.

Prior to the new season announcement, Justin said that he hoped to continue the show for as long as fans are interested.

“I would just say that, from your mouth to God’s ear, if we’re lucky enough to do a third season, a fourth season, a fifth season, a sixth season, that would be wonderful,” he told TV Insider in September 2024. “I think the show works in the long run in that we have adopted this idea that although we are a Rockford Files [type show], we do develop the character going forward.”
