A love story like Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones doesn’t come along often! When the two actors arrived on the red carpet at the 2019 SAG Awards on Sunday, January 27, they had nothing but nice things to say about each other.

“He is the kindest man I have ever met in my life,” Catherine, 49, gushed to reporters about her 74-year-old husband. “His sense of humor, he is actually quite funny in his show. But he is my best friend. So proud to be with him tonight.”

Michael — who stars as Sandy Kominsky in Netflix’s The Kominsky Method — was beaten by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Tony Shalhoub for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series during last night’s awards show. Although he didn’t take home a trophy, Michael still felt very proud and accomplished to leave the ceremony with the mother of his two youngest kids, Catherine.

“The first time I ever met her I found out we had the same birthday and I told her, ‘I’m going to be the father of your children,'” Michael recalled before Catherine chimed in, “He did! And then he found out that I played golf. I think that was it.”

“I found out she played golf. I melted right there. She looked straight into my eyes, and that was it,” Michael added. This year, the A-listers will celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary in November and if it’s anything like their last anniversary then we can expect them to post adorable photos of each other on Instagram.

“We are really, really happy and enjoying our time together and enjoying [time] with the kids, it’s a great time,” Michael previously said on the ITV show Lorraine. We hope the two lovebirds spend many more years together!
