Carrie Fisher on Daughter Billie Lourd — “She’s the Best Work I’ve Ever Produced”

Carrie Fisher may have been one of Hollywood’s most beloved actresses, but the late star’s favorite role was being a mom to her daughter, Billie Lourd.

In an exclusive new story, one of Carrie’s close friends revealed the Star Wars icon liked to refer to Billie, 24, as her “best work.”

“Carrie wasn’t the perfect mom, but in the last couple of years, [her] relationship [with Billie] became very solid,” the pal told Closer Weekly.

“She told friends, ‘I grew up and so did Billie. She’s the best work I’ve ever produced,'” the insider added.

Carrie sadly died at age 60 on Wednesday, Dec. 27 after suffering a heart attack during a flight from London to LA days earlier. It was Billie — whom Carrie welcomed in July 1992 with her then-husband, Bryan Lourd — who announced the news of her mother’s passing through family spokesperson Simon Halls.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” the message began.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers,” the statement read.

Carrie reportedly went into cardiac arrest and stopped breathing during an international flight on Friday, Dec. 23. Medical personnel onboard the aircraft allegedly attempted to treat her for a heart attack before the plane touched down in LA 15 minutes later.

“Just as they were about to call her death, medics found a pulse and hurried her off to the hospital,” Carrie’s friend exclusively told Closer. The star passed away at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center four days later.

On Thursday, Dec. 28 — just one day after Carrie’s untimely death — the actress’ mother, Debbie Reynolds, sadly died at age 84 after suffering a stroke.
