ExclusiveCandace Cameron-Bure Says Her Family’s Christmas Day Tradition Is to Serve at a Homeless Shelter
Do you know how you’re spending the holidays this year? Because Candace Cameron-Bure sure does! In a new interview with Closer Weekly, the Fuller House star explained that she is going to be spending every waking moment with her loved ones.
“Our holidays is all about family,” she said. “It’s when I get to unwind and just be home and be present.”
The 43-year-old also has a nice tradition that she likes to do every year with her kids — Natasha, 21, Lev, 19, and Maksim, 17 — and longtime husband, Valeri Bure.
“[For] Christmas morning, our tradition is that we serve at a homeless shelter and we bring all the food, we cook everything, and sit down and eat with all the residents there,” she said. “Then we usually have a big family Christmas dinner at my brother‘s house and that’s like all the kids and aunts and uncles and grandparents and it’s really fun. We just sit around and talk and eat and sing carols.”
Sounds like a great time! When Candace does find herself alone with her husband of 23 years, they like to do what everyone does on Thanksgiving — eat!
“Our favorite thing is just to eat,” she revealed. “That sounds so simple, but we love cooking at home a lot. And we usually chill out and watch a movie and cuddle up on the couch or sit outside — we live in L.A. and the weather is nice all the time.”
“We sit out on the back and play tug of war with [our dog] Boris, and have a glass of wine by the fire pit,” she added. “The older you get, that’s what you like. It’s all about the chill and relaxing.”
Candace and Valeri have been married since 1996 and she credits their long union to always making time for one another. “I’m like yes spending time together, that’s the secret, you gotta see each other,” Candace gushed. “The kids are older now so it’s different. But our schedules are — we both travel a lot — so we’re trying to figure it out. Now that we’re empty-nesters it’s like a whole new relationship, so it’s really great.”
