Camilla Parker Bowles Reportedly Snubs Princess Eugenie’s Upcoming Royal Wedding
Subtle snub? Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, will reportedly be the only senior member of the royal family who will not be in attendance at her niece Princess Eugenie of York‘s upcoming royal wedding to her fiancé Jack Brooksbank on Friday, Oct. 12. But while it may seem rude of Camilla to turn down an invitation to the UK’s second royal wedding of the year, it seems like she has a perfectly good reason for missing Eugenie’s nuptials.
Camilla, 71, will be attending a school harvest fall festival on Friday, Oct. 12 which directly conflicts with Eugenie’s wedding date, according to the Sun on Sunday. Camilla is committed to attending the event, which will take place near her Birkhall home in Scotland, because she already confirmed that she will be attending before Eugenie set her wedding date.
“When this date was proposed, she said that regrettably she couldn’t come,” a royal insider revealed to the Sun on Sunday. “The family understood, particularly Eugenie, and were fine about it owing to her previous commitment. Camilla didn’t want to let anyone down.”
Another insider added, “Eugenie and her parents wanted her to change her mind. But Camilla said she had a prior commitment and couldn’t.”
But the rest of the royal family is set to attend the event, which will feature a wedding ceremony at St. George’s Chapel and a castle reception, followed by a second reception at Eugenie’s father Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge home. Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are also expected to be among the 400 guests that will be attending Eugenie’s wedding.
And while planning a royal wedding might be stressful, Eugenie recently revealed to British Vogue that she’s not letting the stress get to her because she’s focusing on what’s most important. “I’m not stressed at all,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s very nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect but then you realize that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters.”
