‘Cake Boss’ Star Buddy Valastro Opens up About His Drastic 35-Pound Weight Loss

No more cake for Buddy Valastro! The Cake Boss star has been showing off his drastic weight loss on Instagram, and fans have been amused with how different the reality star looks after shedding some pounds. And in a new interview, he opened up about his 35-pound slim-down.

"I just woke up one morning and looked at myself and was like, 'Come on, you’ve gotta stop eating,'" he told People. "It wasn’t like a health scare or anything like that it really was really just, I wasn’t moving the same and was feeling kind of sluggish." He added, "My problem was that I was doing the opposite of what I was supposed to do. I never ate breakfast. I would have a cup of coffee, and by lunch I was starving and scarf down two slices of pizza."

In a previous social media post, Buddy opened up about the new program he's doing, Optavia. "A lot of people have been asking me how I’ve slimmed down lately so I just wanted to share that I’ve used the Optavia program," he captioned a pic of him with his wife, Lisa Valastro, who also noticeably lost weight. "I'm not being paid to say this and it should be noted that I think every body is different and you should do whatever suits you but this is what I’m doing and I’m very happy with the results so far!"

Fans immediately took to the comments to share how impressed they were with the couple's slim-down. "WOOOWW both of you look so amazing !!! You guys lost like 10 years minimum !!! ? Nice Job!" one wrote. Another added, "Looking great guys! Congratulations on your wonderful progress." One pointed out their love for one another. "You both look absolutely amazing and so adorable, you can definitely see how much you love each other," they wrote.

Optavia, according to its website, focuses on adding health into your daily lifestyle by cutting down portions, eating a lot of protein and healthy snacks, and eating a lot of small meals per day. Clearly, it works well based on Buddy and Lisa's results!

On Wednesday, June 20, Buddy shared another two photos of him and his wife with their 11-year-old son Marco. "So proud of @marco_valastro! Congratulations to him on his graduation today!" he captioned the two snapshots. The duo is also parents to sons Buddy Jr., 13, and Carlo, 7, and daughter Sofia, 15. We bet, just like us, they're very proud of their famous parents!

However, Buddy admitted his weight loss wasn't really for anyone but himself. "I’m not doing it because I’m trying to look good, I’m doing it to feel better. I feel so much better now. But when you do lose weight, you feel good, you do look better, and you know, your clothes fit," he shared. "I’m not the sensitive type — people could call me fat, they could call me skinny. I don’t really care. I did it for me. Even at my heaviest I was always comfortable with myself." You go, Buddy!
