Friendly exes are one thing, but Bruce Willis and Demi Moore take it to another level. When Bruce renewed his vows with Emma Heming for their 10th anniversary last month, Demi was there, beaming in the family pictures.

“She welcomed me into her family like I welcomed her into ours,” Emma told Closer Weekly in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now, at the recent Room to Grow Spring Benefit for low-income families raising young children in New York City and Boston. “It was important for her to be there. She was at our first wedding. I loved having her there again. I wouldn’t do it without her.”

Bruce, 64, and Demi, 56, were married from 1987 to 2000 and are the parents of three girls: Rumer Willis, 30, Scout Willis, 27, and Tallulah Willis, 25. They’ve always valued parenthood over everything else. “I’m much more proud of being a father than being an actor,” Bruce once said. “The thing people find most remarkable about my life now is that I’m close to Demi.”

Even as Demi went on to her 2005–2011 marriage to Ashton Kutcher and Bruce and Emma had two more daughters (Mabel Willis, 7, and Evelyn Willis, 4), the ex-couple have healed their past differences. “Time is an amazing equalizer,” Demi has said. “If you stay true to yourself and keep moving forward, things come around.”

Bruce and Demi keep coming together for their children’s birthday parties, Broadway openings (Rumer joined the cast of Chicago in 2015) — and yes, Bruce and Emma’s vow renewal ceremony. “I have so much respect for her,” Emma, 42, tells Closer of Bruce’s ex. “I have so much respect for how Bruce and Demi worked through their divorce to be able to put their children first. I learned so much from that and grew so much from watching that.”
